Keep checking back for updates.
This page features Project Cars that we've had some influence on, are presently building, or have spent crazy amounts of hours putting together and engineering.
Customer : Andy from Fort Erie, Ontario
Customer Request : Built me a car that looks totally wild, goes fast, and is reliable as Rover barking when someone is at the door.
Project Plans : To build a Street driven, chopped and channeled, show worthy, 12 second quarter mile car, that could be used as a grocery getter . "Well maybe not the grocery getter ". OK why not !
Here are some pictures of the project.
Here are some spec's that might interest you.
Engine: 1904 Turbo charged Type 1 built by Dave and Judy Kawell of Friendship, Tennessee.
Dyno'd HP: 192 HP at 6200 rpm, running 11psi boost pressure, on 94 octane fuel.
Transmission: Pressure washed, Magnesium case, 1968-69 Type II Unit.
Modifications to Transmission: Changed oil and Bell Housing
Front Axle: Narrowed Ball Joint with Adjusters modified several times to fit things just right.
Steering Box: It was a Wabbit Wack, or Rabbit rack and pinion, until we figured out the geometry was all screwed up, and it wouldn't fit worth a dam, in the Rathbun chassis. We then installed a stock type 1 steering box. JBS TIP ( Don't try to reinvent the wheel. It takes too much time. )
Front Brakes: Custom Engineered by John's Bug Shop using Rabbit Calipers, Pads and Ghia Rotors. ( This custom bracket that John engineered, allows you to use 81-84 Rabbit or Jetta Calipers so there is no interference when running a Weld or Centerline style wheel). Braking power is increased also, and no special spindles are required.
Rear Brakes: Out of the Box 914 style.
Chassis: Rathbun Enterprises Pro Sedan Chassis, Modified extensively by John's Bug Shop to fit the Bodies Chopped roof and 4 inches off the bottom. JBS TIP( Don't try and build a chassis yourself ) Even with the time it took to modify the Rathbun Chassis, it was well worth the investment. Rathbun Enterprises builds a great chassis.
Carburation:

Customer: Jody from Niagara Falls, Ontario
Customer Request: Supply and install a reliable engine with a little get up and go. It must be show quality and easy to maintain.
Project Plans: Use a new 1600cc Mexican motor with Dual 40mm Solex carbs and a 12lb flywheel. Paint the engine tin the same colour as the car. Use just enough chrome accessories to accent the colour of the car.
Here are some pictures of the project.
Customer: Joe from Mississauga, Ontario
Customer Request: Build me a turn key Dune Buggy that is very reliable, handles well, and is show worthy.
Project Plans: To build an all new Street legal Dune Buggy using one of the new Berrien Buggy Nostalgia Bodies and Chassis. The engine will be a new as well, The transmission will be a rebuilt IRS. The car will driven on a regular basis, so keeping the car as simple as possible is a must. This will hopefully eliminate any problems the customer has with his new Buggy.
This is one of our latest projects in the shop. We will keep you up to date so you can follow along in the construction stages and see the progress of how a fiberglass Buggy is built. Keep checking back for more pictures.
