If you are
an expert welder**
you can save BIG MONEY on shipping by welding your Berrien Buggy chassis
yourself.
Depending
on the model, you have the option of a knockdown kit, partially assembled
tacked kit or fully welded chassis.
Whether
you choose a Warrior or Cruiser knockdown kit, or one of our other models as a
partially tacked kit, all Berrien Buggy chassis come with easy-to-follow
instructions to guide you through kit assembly. All tubing is bent, cut
to length and pre-notched for an accurate fit.
Before you
order your chassis, you must have determined which front suspension you will
be using.
Knockdown
kit
Our
knockdown kits come almost totally disassembled.
Most of
the floor pieces are tack welded together including the clamps, the clamps are
tacked onto the arm rails and the dashbar is tacked in the front rollbar.
All other tubes are cut, bent & notched to fit, but left for
you to assemble. So that we ship the right parts, you will need to have
the front end and rear torsion before you order, because they will serve as
your jig during the assembly.
Partially
Assembled Tacked Kit
(Top &
Bottom)
A top
& bottom tacked kit consists of the floor and upper cage as two separate
assemblies. All of the pieces which connect the upper cage to the floor
and the removable rear engine cage need to be assembled. This kit
also requires the front and rear suspension components to proceed with the
assembly.
Partially
Assembled Tacked Kit
(Side by
Side)
Our side
by side tacked kits are specifically designed to be shipping friendly. All
the side upright and diagonal bars are assembled between the arm rail and
outer floor rail, giving you a right and left assembly. We also assemble
the center section of the floor, to help you position the sides the correct
distance apart. The remaining floor, upper cage and removable rear cage
tubes are left loose, to keep the packaged kit as flat as possible, saving you
shipping charges.
Fully
Welded Chassis
Our fully
welded chassis are mig welded on a solid jig, so when you get it home it's
ready for your jack stands and wrench work. Welding of miscellaneous
mounts will still be required.
If you
order a fully welded chassis without a torsion, the removable rear engine cage
will not be assembled.
**For
the safety of you and your passengers, we highly recommend that a professional
do all the welding on your chassis.
